I Set Out to Survive
I didn't set out to "be a freelancer" or build an online business or create content.
I set out to survive.
And, as it turns out, I've learned a lot through survival mode.
(For those who don't know my story, it starts like many other modern day solopreneurs -- the year was 2020 and I was laid off"...)
Maybe some of you are currently in survival mode. If so, my support is extended to you.
And while I never want to minimize the pain or difficulty of this experience, I would like to acknowledge that my own survival mode was a time of incredible growth and personal transformation.
Without it, I wouldn't be where I am today...which is exactly where I want to be.
I've thought a lot about what I would tell myself back then, if I could. Here's a little bit of it:
You can most definitely do hard things, but you probably won't want to (at least not at first). It's normal to resist, but you won't get anywhere unless you actually take the steps.
It's ok that you don't have all the certifications and degrees. You don't need to be the smartest or most well-decorated person in the room; instead, be the one who people WANT to work with. Listen, help, follow through, and do what you say you're going to do.
Letting go of control and making the decision to trust and embrace the mystery of life is quite freeing. There is no perfect plan. There is no "right way." Follow your moral compass and it will turn out ok.
These lessons have helped me in business and in life.
And there's more, but I'll end on that note today. 💫
