I believe yoga is about far more than movement. It is a practice of awareness, resilience, connection, and learning to better understand ourselves. At its heart, yoga invites us to build a healthier relationship with ourselves so we can move through life with greater presence, compassion, and intention. As the saying goes, "Yoga is a journey of the self, to the self, through the self." That has certainly been true in my own life.
Yoga has been part of my life for nearly two decades. What began as an occasional way to stay active evolved into something much deeper through pregnancy, motherhood, and seasons of isolation and personal struggle that ultimately became a journey of growth and healing. Along the way, I discovered that yoga isn't simply about flexibility or physical postures; but rather, a lifelong practice of connecting the body, mind, breath, and nervous system.
Those experiences shaped not only my practice, but also my purpose as a teacher. I know what it feels like to move through difficult seasons and wonder if anyone truly understands what you're carrying. Through the compassion and presence of teachers who created space for me, I began to reconnect with myself. Today, my passion is creating that same kind of space for others. Whether someone comes to class carrying profound grief or simply the weight of a busy life, my hope is that they leave feeling a little more connected to themselves and to those around them.
My teaching is rooted in Integrated Holistic Yoga, which recognizes that our physical, emotional, mental, social, and spiritual wellbeing are deeply interconnected. I strive to honor both the wisdom of the yogic tradition and today's understanding of anatomy and psychology, creating practices that are evidence-informed and centered on the whole person.
Today, I teach yoga in community settings, corporate environments, and private sessions throughout Northwest Arkansas. I am continuing my studies in Therapeutic Yoga through Stanford University's YogaX program within the Department of Psychiatry under the direction of Dr. Christiane Brems. I am also completing my Pilates Mat Instructor training through Balanced Body to deepen my understanding of movement science and functional fitness.
As both a lifelong student and teacher, I remain committed to this work because I believe the more we understand the connection between the body, mind, and nervous system, the better we can support ourselves and one another.
Wherever you are in life or in your practice, you are welcome here. I don't believe yoga asks us to become someone different. Instead, it invites us to become more fully ourselves. My hope is to offer a welcoming, space where you can explore that journey in whatever way is most meaningful to you. If you leave class feeling a little more at home in yourself than when you arrived, then I consider that a meaningful practice.
