Transformation Takes More Than One Step

Some days I’m not sure how I went from crippling anxiety that made it difficult to leave the house, to traveling the country to deliver my work to project management teams.

It’s a lot to process but, in truth, it’s all because of a decision I made in the aftermath of my divorce and subsequent layoff.

I remember thinking “If project management best practices can completely alter the course of a business, then why can't I use the same approach with my life?”

As cheesy as it sounds, that’s literally the thought that saved me. It was what I knew so it’s what I pursued.

And so I began creating videos about project management - things I had learned, new concepts that resonated with me, how to get things done, etc.

My older videos are mostly educational shares, but what you don’t see is that I was also working quietly behind the scenes, using these same techniques to rebuild my own life – A life that often felt completely unsalvageable.

It wasn’t easy. Many hours I spent in tears questioning it all. Many days I spent wondering if it was all for nothing. Generally speaking, I was uncomfortable. But mostly I believed and kept showing up.

And now, four years later, I can confidently say it worked.

I have not only rebuilt my life in tangible ways such as my finances and housing, but I’ve also restored my mental health, my physical fitness, and my relationships.

Oh, and I built a business, too. 💪

I’m going to end by saying this:

I see a lot of posts on here that direct people to just take the first step and start showing up. While that’s fine advice, I don’t think a step on its own is powerful enough to make a transformation.

There has to be something more there.

What is it for you? 💫
