Passion or Paycheck?

They say we are supposed to follow our passions yet also give the customer what they want.

I think I’m doing both.

When I started here, it was all about project management. I wrote for an entire year about initiation, planning, execution, and closing, supplemented by 200+ videos on my YT channel.

Thousands of project professionals have found me through my PM content, and for that I’m grateful. 🙏

But then one day I shared a personal anecdote and y’all loved it. So, naturally, I shared another and another.

As a highly introspective person who has always been fond of the written word, the opportunity to weave my experiences together in a way that touches others is pure joy.

It’s not exactly what I set out to do, but it’s been a welcome development.

And, as time elapsed, my new hope became to provide insight into the more nuanced aspects of our work:

The stuff we feel

The moments we live

The area in between black and white

This is why I have the conversations and ask the questions. This is why I do the personal reflection and share the takeaways.

The idea is that maybe through my own transparency you will recognize something in yourself.

Of course, I’m still excited about project management and I love sharing about how simple best practices can transform work and life, but I’ve also realized there’s so much more.

Because I’m here for something deeper, something powerful and lasting. I wouldn’t show up like this if that weren’t true.

I’ll end here:

In a world and on a platform where dollars and data speak the loudest, I’m not afraid to say they don’t mean the most to me.

Of course, if you want to purchase my services then I’m thrilled to interact in that way.

But also, if you don’t, then that’s wonderful too.

I’m just glad you're here. 💫
