How Do You Balance It All?

Last year I worked from the backseat of my car every Monday and Wednesday afternoon while my daughter was in dance class.

Then my carpal tunnel flared and I realized creating an ergonomic setup in my Subaru wasn't really an option.

But I knew I couldn't continue with my work habits.

I worried I wouldn't be able to get everything done if I couldn't work during her dance time.

Then I worried maybe that meant I wouldn't be able to take her to dance anymore.

(Anyone who is responsible for transporting school-age kiddos with extra curricular activities can relate to this logistical balancing act.)

Frankly, my anxiety got the best of me until I decided to let it go and focus on controlling only what I could.

So that's why now I get up extra early to work from the comfort of my desk chair. And, if you've ever received a 4am DM from me, now you know why 😅.

Early bird work is not always ideal and it's not always what I feel like doing, but more often than not it's what I need to do to keep it all moving smoothly. And this way I don't need to worry about those afternoons when I'm unavailable for work.

I'll be clear: this is not some obnoxious hustle flex because, trust me, I can sleep in like nobody's business; but rather it's what I need to do to fit in my priorities as a mother, business owner, and human being.

And I'm grateful my work allows the flexibility to figure it out in the best way for me, in this season of life.

❓ How do you balance it all? And does anyone remember what it felt like to sleep in? Those were the days...😴
